CHASE Project: Everything you need to know

Cambridge United Community Trust have a new project specifically for Year 9's at schools in the Cambridge area.

The C.H.A.S.E project stands for Charity, Health, Action & Social Engagement. At heart of the trust, these are key areas we continually explore and develop.

What does it involve?

The programme is a one-week programme taking place from the 12th-18th April 2019 with 3 phases:

Phase 1: Residential Adventure staying at Norfolk Lakes Activity Centre (3 days, 2 nights.)
This would include activities such as obstacle courses, raft building, survival skills, initiative exercises, orienteering, bivouac exercises, expedition experience, climbing, abseiling, and caving.

The aim is to get them to know the other people on the project who will be from different schools/backgrounds as well as focusing on the ideas behind teamwork.

Phase 2: Social Action, Non-residential (4 days)

Based at Cambridge United Football Club, the next 4 days will be spent seeing different parts of Cambridge, whether through a guided tour of one of the university’s colleges, or attending a community sports day. The students will also have to work together to put on their own project which benefits a local charity.

Phase 3: Celebration Meal

We will celebrate the programme with a meal at Cambridge United Football Club for the parents and participants

What are the aims of the programme?

  • Build the confidence of the young people in getting outside of their comfort zone and interacting with people that have different backgrounds to them.
  • To educate them about some issues specific to Cambridge.
  • To inspire the children involved to want to take part in more social action projects.

Participants will be from selected schools and be advised on how to apply.
