National Citizen Service

Cambridge United Community Trust would like to introduce you to the National Citizen Service (NCS) programme. NCS brings together 16- to 17-year olds from different backgrounds in a programme of challenge, learning, and discovery.

This enables all participants to develop the confidence, and skills they need to become more engaged with their communities and become active and responsible citizens, whilst having an amazing and enjoyable, action-packed experience!

The young people who take part will enjoy an all-action outward bound residential trip, before returning to Cambridge to continue their personal development with a number of tasks and challenges. The final aspect of the programme is to plan and deliver a project in the local community.

Programme Information

Induction

Meet the staff and your new NCS team mates, collect your NCS t-shirt, and get all the information you need and ask any final questions you may have!

PHASE 1- Away residential (4 days, 4 nights)

4 days away from home on a full time residential programme with a focus on teamwork and outdoor physical challenges, games and adventures. Activities such as: Watersports, Archery, Rock Climbing, Abseiling, etc.

PHASE 2- University Residential (5 days, 4 nights)

Spend 5 days at Anglia Ruskin University; living in student accommodation, learning various skills (First Aid, Debating, Martial Arts, Cartoon Creation, etc...), cooking for yourself, and general budgeting.

Preparing you for uni and beyond!

PHASE 3A- Get Involved and Social Action Planning (5 days)

This phase has a focus on developing new skills for work and life. Activities include sports leadership, business and enterprise training. Evening activities include: Come dine with me, the Apprentice, and a student led activities night.

PHASE 3B- Social Action Project (20 hours over 5 days– Cambridge United FC)

Participants to design and deliver a Social Action Project that will help benefit the community and make better place to be. Project is student led and supported by NCS staff. Participants can complete around their own commitments.

PHASE 4- Graduation

30th August at Cambridge United's Abbey Stadium- Celebrate all your achievements and everything you've conquered over the last few weeks!
