Girls & Women's football

Cambridge United is committed to advancing girls and women's football at all levels of the game, be it through schools and grassroots initiatives or at the elite level. The aim is to introduce as many new girls and women as possible to the sport, and support them realising their full potential as players.

For more information please contact Megan Todd - our Female Football Development Officer.

Girls only football sessions at schools

Cambridge United currently delivers girls only football sessions for beginners to get involved in football and learn the basic skills with fun games. We deliver lunch/after school clubs to different secondary schools to get more girls playing and help them to continue if they wish to do so. This is crucial in improving the participation of girls in football from an early age.

Girls Soccer Schools

During the school holidays we run a girls only football school to allow girls to continue developing their skills in a comfortable environment. We encourage beginners to attend the soccer schools and spend their holidays with us enjoying playing football. This is also another route for beginners to start taking their football more seriously - for more information visit CUYD.co.uk or call 01223 632770.

Girls Development Centre

Starting in September 2017/18, Cambridge United's Girls' Development Centre (GDC) is an opportunity for players to develop further as players and people. The GDC will give talented girls the tools to succeed at the highest level and offer a clear route to the first team. There are 3 centres in and around Cambridge in Linton, Comberton, and Netherhall.

Cambridge United Women's team

The first team compete in the Women's Premier League Division 1 South East. Last season they had a phenomenal cup run in the FA cup beating QPR from the league above before finally losing to Aston Villa in the 4th round. With a record points haul last season, for the team the only way is up.
