Girls & Women's football

Cambridge United is committed to advancing girls and women's football at all levels of the game, be it through schools and grassroots initiatives or at the elite level. The aim is to introduce as many new girls and women as possible to the sport, and support them realising their full potential as players.

Girls Development Centre 2018-19

Cambridge United's Girls' Development Centre (GDC) is an opportunity for players to develop further as players and people. The Girls Development Centre is a platform for girls to get professional development alongside playing for their club. During half-term the GDC play fixtures against teams all over the UK. Last season we played Norwich, Peterborough & Colchester. We have released the new trials for the 2018-19 season.

Girls only football sessions at schools

Cambridge United currently delivers girls only football sessions for beginners to get involved in football and learn the basic skills with fun games. We deliver lunch/after school clubs to different secondary schools to get more girls playing and help them to continue if they wish to do so. This is crucial in improving the participation of girls in football from an early age.

Girls Football Camp

During the school holidays we run a girls only football camp for girls to get professional football training over the holidays. We welcome all players outside the GDC and within the GDC to receive top end training from our very own Girls Development Centre coaches - for more information visit CUYD.co.uk or call 01223 632770.

Cambridge United Women's team

The first team compete in the Women's Premier League Division 1 South East. Last season they had a phenomenal cup run in the FA cup beating QPR from the league above before finally losing to Aston Villa in the 4th round. With a record points haul last season, for the team the only way is up.
