Active Science

Type of project:

  • Science through sport
  • Working with year 5/6 (10/11 years old)

Volunteer tasks:

  • Help children with scientific equipment
  • Ask prompting questions and providing science support
  • Supporting teaching by working through a science booklet

Time commitment: 1 hour a week minimum commitment

Person specification: Interest in teaching, science, sport or sports science.

Location: Central Cambridge Primary School

Match reporting programme:

Type of project:

  • Match reporting scheme involved with developing writing skills
  • Working with ks2: year 5/6

Volunteer tasks:

  • Assisting with the programme in primary schools
  • Helping support teachers with writing skills

Person specification: Interest in journalism, writing, teaching.

Time commitment: 1 hour a week minimum commitment

Location: Central Cambridge primary schools


NCS (National Citizen programme):

Type of project:

  • Bringing together 16/17 year olds from different backgrounds in programme of challenge, learning and discovery

Volunteering tasks:

  • General assistance with young people
  • Time and behaviour management
  • Enthuastic individuals
  • Interest in working with children from different backgrounds

Person specification: Interest in working with young people

Time commitment: TBA

Location: central Cambridge

Girls & Women’s sport:

Type of project:

  • Introduce as many new girls and women as possible to football and support them realising their full potential as players

Volunteering tasks:

  • Coaching football sessions
  • Opportunity to lead sessions under supervision
  • Sharing knowledge of football

Person specification: At least a Level 1 football coaching badge or working towards, experience working with younger children, interest in football

Time commitment: 1 hour a week minimum commitment

Disability Sport

Type of projects :

  • Ambulant Cerebal Palsy session
  • Down’s Syndrome session
  • Frame Football session
  • Deaf Football
  • Blind Football

Volunteering tasks:

  • Assisting with the coaching sessions
  • Help out set up the sessions and support the head coaches

Person specification: Interest in football, interest in working with disability sport

Time Commitment: 1 hour a week minimum commitment
